Golfers raised $679,000 for Charity
Together with g.spa Pte Ltd, more than 100 avid golfers made a difference through a golf tournament held at Orchid Country Club (OCC) on 7th May 2015 with the spirit of giving back to the society. An amount of $679,000 was raised to Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society (CHWSS) during their 11th Anniversary Gala Dinner cum Charity Golf Tournament organized by g.spa Pte Ltd. The amount donated will be allocated for education grants, free medical cares and services for the needy.
CHWSS is the welfare arm of Cheng Hong Siang Tng a Charitable Organisation. The society was founded with the objective to co-ordinate all welfare services for Cheng Hong Siang Tng. Today, the Society operates a medical centre and 6 TCM clinics island wide providing pro bono traditional Chinese treatment and medication to those in need. It also offers other charitable services such as providing food ration, education grants, home visits, bring elderly for tours and after life services.
The golf event began with a sumptuous buffet lunch reception and a warm introduction from the organizers appreciating the generous golfer for their participation. The golfers also received a g.spa goodie bag worth $300 of products and services. In spite of the light drizzle which affected some parts of the afternoon, golfers remained high spirited exchanging pointers on the sport and tips on how to better their game on the luscious green golf course. They also had the opportunity to walk away with 4 attractive Hole-In-One prizes“ The Lexus 250 ES, OCC Gold Membership worth S$30,000 and g.spa Membership worth S$20,000. Although none of the golfers walked away with the hole-in-one prizes, the atmosphere remains jovial and uplifting.
Throughout the tournament, golfers were cheered on with ice cold beers served by female models engaged for the event. They were also pampered with an ache-relieving back and shoulder treatment from g.spa therapists.
In the evening, guests and refreshed golfers were invited to attend the CHWSS Anniversary Dinner where Guest-of-Honor Mr Tan Chuan-Jin (Minister of for the Ministry of Social and Family Developments) graced the occasion. Minister Tan who is an avid photographer and art collector himself placed some of his finest art pieces for auction. Other items from Singapore Mint were also displayed for auction.
The dinner started off with dance performances from local schools featuring our talented youths to entertain the cheerful crowd. An estimated 600 distinguished guest and donors attended the event.

The Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success for CHWSS and a milestone for g.spa in fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The premier spa with 24,300 square feet of spa features and facilities, partook in several other CSR projects. They become the first mega spa in Singapore to raise more than $600,000 in donations from a Charity Golf Tournament. For the passionate and high spirited golfers, camaraderie and friendships were built through the bonding sessions from a game of golf and dinner. Play golf for a good cause.
